    Description

    F. VIDALIN and G. HERAUD. Ville et Port de Saigon; together with Observatoire de Saigon by Frederic Sorrieu, Paris: Lemercier & Cie., 1878.
The map measures about 18x11 inches or 46x28cm, the print is 9x11 inches or half the size of the map. The map was prepared after an 1864 survey by Vidalin and Heraud, who were hydro engineers. The observatory shown here was part of the French assignment in an international project to gather data during the 1874 transit of Venus. Map and lithograph were bound into an 1878 report on the Venus project by the Institut de France.
